SAM Broadcaster

1 min readUpdated November 8, 2026

Add a SHOUTcast encoder in SAM Broadcaster for your station.

SAM Broadcaster is studio automation software for Windows.

Connection values

Server typeSHOUTcast (v1 / legacy)
Address / hostYour station address, for example yourstation.radiohost.net
PortThe live DJ port shown in your panel under Live DJ → Connection Info
PasswordYour live DJ password (not the stream password)
Mountpoint / userLeave empty
FormatMP3, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo
Where are my values? Open your panel, go to Live DJ and look at the card Go live: set up your encoder. Address, port and password are filled in for your station and each has a copy button.

Set up SAM Broadcaster

  1. Open the Encoders window and click +.
  2. Choose MP3 (LAME) and set 128 kb/s, 44.1 kHz, stereo.
  3. On the Server Details tab, choose SHOUTcast.
  4. Enter address, port and password. Leave other fields empty.
  5. Click OK and then Start. The encoder status shows the connection.

If it doesn't connect

  • Check that you used the live DJ port from the panel, not your stream port.
  • Check that you used the live DJ password (or a DJ account password), not the stream password from Broadcast.
  • SHOUTcast v1 programs also use the next port up automatically. Make sure your firewall or network allows both.
