Bitrate and audio format

1 min readUpdated November 8, 2026

What your station sends to listeners and which settings to use when you go live.

What listeners get

Your station streams MP3 at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo. That sounds good on every device and works with every player.

When you go live

Send MP3 at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo as well. A higher bitrate doesn't improve what listeners hear.

Data use for listeners

128 kbps uses about 58 MB per hour of listening.
