Mixxx

1 min readUpdated November 8, 2026

Connect the free Mixxx DJ software to your station.

Mixxx is free DJ software for Windows, Mac and Linux with two or four decks and built-in live broadcasting.

Connection values

Server typeSHOUTcast (v1 / legacy)
Address / hostYour station address, for example yourstation.radiohost.net
PortThe live DJ port shown in your panel under Live DJ → Connection Info
PasswordYour live DJ password (not the stream password)
Mountpoint / userLeave empty
FormatMP3, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo
Where are my values? Open your panel, go to Live DJ and look at the card Go live: set up your encoder. Address, port and password are filled in for your station and each has a copy button.

Set up Mixxx

  1. Open Options → Preferences → Live Broadcasting.
  2. Create a connection. Set type Shoutcast 1.
  3. Enter the address in Host, then port and password. Leave Login and Mount empty.
  4. Under encoding, choose MP3 and 128 kbps, stereo.
  5. Click OK, then turn on Options → Enable Live Broadcasting (or click the antenna icon).

If it doesn't connect

  • Check that you used the live DJ port from the panel, not your stream port.
  • Check that you used the live DJ password (or a DJ account password), not the stream password from Broadcast.
  • SHOUTcast v1 programs also use the next port up automatically. Make sure your firewall or network allows both.
